Awards Process

The application process comprises:

(a) Online Application

All applicants must submit an Online Application. The online form requires the applicant to provide agency and project details to demonstrate how the project meets the four general and two category-specific criteria. Agencies must also declare that they have permission from the Director General/CEO (and that of any partner agencies) to enter the Awards. Please read the Tips on Submitting Your Application.

Online Applications have closed.
Thank you for submitting your applications for the 2009 Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Public Sector Management. The online application process is now closed and short-listing is underway. If your project is successful in the short-listing process you will be contacted by the Project Manager.

(b) Initial Short-listing

A short-listing panel member will be allocated for each award category to assess all applications and recommend a shortlist for that category. Short-listing panel members will make an initial recommendation of five applicants from within their category to be considered by the relevant category panel. A copy of each applicant’s Online Application will be made available to the category panel.

(c) Presentation

The five recommended applicants for each category will be invited to deliver a presentation about their project to the relevant category panel. These applicants will be asked to present a synopsis of the background and context of the project's development; relevant operational activities; issues and benefits resulting from the project; and provide any other relevant information to support their application.

Applicants will also need to bring an executive summary, Entry Permission Form, evidence to substantiate claims and visual materials. For more information, read the Tips on What to Bring to the Presentation.

After the recommended applicants have presented, the category panels may choose to invite further applicants to present.

(d) Selection of Category Finalists and Winner

The category panels use the information from the Online Applications and presentations to select each category’s finalists and winner.

(e) Selection of Overall Winner

The peak panel members come together to present and discuss the selection of category winners. The short-listing panel members provide insight and respond to questions, before leaving the peak panel to deliberate and determine the overall winner of the 2009 Premier’s Awards for Public Sector Excellence.

(f) Presentation Ceremony

Finalists and winners will be invited to a ceremony hosted by the Premier (date to be confirmed via invitation after category finalists and winners have been selected).
